Mona Liza Sumaya

Social Media Coordinator

5 Fun Facts:

  • I only learned how to swim during my late 20s.

  • I have solo travelled in Vietnam way back in 2017 and would love to do it again.

  • During the pandemic, I got free vegetable seeds and I thought I could just leave all of them in a pot with some land – and yes, (surprisingly) only the water spinach survived among them all.

  • When I was young, there’s this science show that’s so popular and that’s when I first heard of the profession “cardiologist” – I wanted to be one only because it sounds so good to hear.

  • I’d watch the Mary D’ Potter show when I was young and that’s how I learned how to raise my eyebrows alternately.

“The more you believed in yourself, the more you could trust yourself. The more you trust yourself, the less you compare yourself to others.”

My name is Mona Liza – it sounds like the famous painting, yes but my name didn’t come from it. It’s from a famous Nat King Cole “Mona Lisa” song. We’re five in the family and I’m the eldest. I went to the same school from Kindergarten to High School and I think that’s how many students became so familiar with me. I’d always greet my schoolmates and teachers around – this is how I became the President of our High School Student Council when I ran for the first time.

I finished Bachelor of Arts major in Mass Communication – not just to escape the whole levels of Mathematics, but also to learn more on production and design. This interest never died even when I was working in the corporate. I got interested in all the production happening in the digital world and that’s how I studied to be a Social Media Manager.

I treat my work from home job both as an opportunity and a blessing cause while I work in my little cubicle here in my room, I could connect to a virtual workspace with diverse creative minds and at the same time, I get to see my son’s school and life progress.
